The National Counties Cricket Association has postponed this season’s 50-over Trophy competition.
This follows the ECB’s announcement that the first-class season will be delayed until at least July 1 and that recreational cricket is suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.
NCCA officials stress both the 50-over competition – and also the T20 competition, which had been scheduled to start last month – are both postponed and not cancelled.
The NCCA wants to ensure that if it receives the go ahead to play some cricket this summer that all formats are available to select from to restructure the season to make the most of whatever time remains.
Shropshire had been scheduled to begin their one-day Trophy campaign against Norfolk at Manor Park, Norwich on Sunday, June 7, with further group matches against Cambridgeshire at Wem, Cheshire at Nantwich and Suffolk at Whitchurch.
