Joe Stanley

Joe, an off-spinning all-rounder, made his Shropshire debut in a Championship match against Cornwall at St Austell in July 2022.

He made an immediate impact by hitting 58 in the second innings, putting on 114 for the seventh wicket with Graham Wagg, while he also took four wickets in the match.

Joe hit the headlines during a Championship match against Wiltshire at Whitchurch in August 2023, claiming a stunning haul of 9-83 in Wiltshire’s first innings, just a day after his 18th birthday.

It’s the second best ever bowling figures by a Shropshire player in a Championship match, only bettered by a return of 9-56 from former Yorkshire and Derbyshire spinner Andy Gray against Cornwall at Truro in 2008.

Joe, who captains Wolverhampton in the Birmingham League, is a former pupil of Telford’s Thomas Telford School.

He previously captained Worcestershire CCC’s Academy team and played a number of second team games for the Pears during his time at New Road.

Joe has also experienced playing club cricket in Western Australia.
