Matty returned to Wellington to play his club cricket ahead of the 2024 season, having been with Bridgnorth since the winter of 2019.

A top order right-handed batter and off-spinner, Matty top scored for Shropshire during the first innings on his Championship debut against Wiltshire at Marlborough in the final match of the 2019 season.

Matty’s maiden half century for Shropshire came in June 2021, an unbeaten 58 against Staffordshire in the NCCA Trophy at Oswestry, as he shared an unbroken eighth-wicket partnership of 110 with David Laird.

He was given a chance to impress at first team level following some consistent performances for Shropshire’s Academy side.
