The Lancashire seamer represented Shropshire, his home county, at a number of age group levels before making his first team debut in the NCCA Trophy against Cheshire at Toft in June 2021.

Mitchell then played in the final Championship match of the season, a three-wicket victory over Devon at Sidmouth, when he contributed with bat and ball.

Mitchell, who is from Telford and plays his club cricket for Shifnal, made his Worcestershire first team debut in the T20 Blast against Leicestershire in June 2022.

He was then selected to play for Manchester Originals in The Hundred and also played for Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10 towards the end of 2022.

Mitchell made the move from Worcestershire to Lancashire in September 2023.
