All-rounder Sam joined Wolverhampton ahead of the 2023 season after a spell playing for Formby in the Liverpool & District Cricket Competition.

He had previously played for Birmingham League premier division club Shrewsbury after signing from Whitchurch ahead of the 2019 season.

During his time at Heath Road, Sam had helped Whitchurch return to the Birmingham League as Shropshire League champions in 2017, a season in which he struck a double century while opening the batting for Shropshire’s under-17s.

An attacking right-handed batter and right-arm seamer, Sam, who has also previously captained Ellesmere College, is currently studying at university in Leeds.

He received the man of the match award after impressing for a Shropshire XI in a special Twenty20 match against the RAF at Oswestry, arranged as part of the RAF’s centenary celebrations, in May 2018.

He claimed match figures of 5-58 on his Championship debut against Oxfordshire at Banbury in July 2019, with two wickets in the first innings followed by three more in the second.

Sam’s best Championship figures are 5-20 from 12 overs in the first innings of the Championship match against Wales at Oswestry in July 2022.

Sam has played for Shropshire’s Academy side and is another player with a bright future.

His preparations for recent seasons have included playing for Leeds/Bradford MCCU against first-class counties. He took five wickets in the match against Yorkshire at Headingley in April 2023. Sam was invited to play for Kent’s second team in July 2021.
