Shropshire County Cricket Club plan to relaunch its popular hospitality event in 2022 after deciding not to stage the event this year.
It will be the second successive year the event has not taken place after last July’s hospitality day was cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Shropshire CCC secretary Richard Lees said: “Given the ongoing uncertainty over the lifting of restrictions, we have regrettably had to make the decision not to hold the event this year – with the plan to relaunch in 2022.”
The event is renowned as the county’s premier networking event for the Shropshire business community and regularly attracts more than 800 guests to Wrekin College.
Guests are entertained in a luxury marquee while also having the opportunity to enjoy watching cricket.
The last time the hospitality day was able to go ahead in 2019 – held for the 13th time – Shropshire’s cricketers played Scottish side Grange Cricket Club from Edinburgh in two Twenty20 matches, with Chris Cowdrey, the former Kent and England captain, the event’s master of ceremonies.
