Shropshire have named a 12-man squad as they look forward to resuming their Unicorns Twenty20 campaign against Herefordshire at Colwall on Sunday.
The teams will play two T20 matches with two points awarded to the winners of each game.
Berkshire currently top the five-team group with six points and then come Shropshire and Herefordshire, both with four points.
Shropshire opened their T20 season with two defeats at Berkshire but responded impressively 24 hours later to enjoy two victories over Oxfordshire at Shrewsbury.
The group winners will progress to Unicorns Counties Twenty20 Finals Day at Wormsley in August.
Bryan Jones, Shropshire’s chairman of selectors, said: “We’re still very much in the competition and beating Oxfordshire twice has given us momentum.
“We also took a lot of confidence from beating Staffordshire in the 50-over competition last weekend and many of the players involved this Sunday played in that game.
“If we can get two good results against a good Herefordshire side, we’ll be right in contention going into our final group fixtures against Buckinghamshire at Whitchurch next month.”
Oswestry captain Robbie Clarke, who hit an unbeaten 107 in last Sunday’s Unicorns Trophy win at Staffordshire, will make his first T20 appearance of the season for Shropshire.
Whitchurch’s promising allrounder Sam Ellis, who was named man of the match when Shropshire beat the RAF in a Twenty20 match at Oswestry last Friday, also features in the squad having made his senior debut for the county in the last T20 group game against Oxfordshire.
Shropshire’s 12-man squad is: Will Parton (Shrewsbury, captain), Omar Ali (C&R Hawks), Robbie Clarke (Oswestry), Alexei Kervezee (Halesowen), Ross Aucott (Shifnal), Simon Gregory (Bridgnorth), Sam Whitney (Bridgnorth), Gurjit Sandhu (Twickenham), Jack Twigger (Wellington), Tyler Ibbotson (Shrewsbury), David Laird (Bridgnorth), Sam Ellis (Whitchurch).
