Shropshire have named a 12-man squad for their final Unicorns Twenty20 group games this season against Buckinghamshire at Whitchurch on Sunday.
Promising Whitchurch allrounder Sam Ellis is included at his home club ground and there’s also a place for Sam Griffiths, the former Shrewsbury seamer who has returned to Shelton to play in the Shropshire County League this season.
Griffiths was scheduled to make his first county appearance of the season in the last group matches at Herefordshire last month.
But rain meant no play was possible at Colwall which means Shropshire no longer have a chance to quality for finals day at Wormsley later in the season.
Sunday’s squad also features Wellington seamer Jack Twigger, who bowled well to take four wickets as Shropshire booked their place in the Unicorns Trophy semi-finals with victory at Norfolk last weekend.
The first of Sunday’s two T20 matches at Whitchurch starts at 11.30am, with a second match to follow in the afternoon. Admission is free for spectators, with a £2 charge for car parking at the ground.
Shropshire’s 12-man squad for Sunday is: Will Parton (Shrewsbury, captain), Jack Edwards (Shifnal), Alexei Kervezee (Halesowen), Ross Aucott (Shifnal), Ryan Lockley (Bridgnorth), Simon Gregory (Bridgnorth), Sam Whitney (Bridgnorth), Tyler Ibbotson (Shrewsbury), Sam Griffiths (Shelton), Jack Twigger (Wellington), David Laird (Bridgnorth), Sam Ellis (Whitchurch).
