Shropshire’s Development XI produced two encouraging performances as they ended their 2018 season with two Twenty20 matches against a strong Lancashire Academy side.
The Emirates Old Trafford prospects eventually came out on top in both games at Wrekin College, but Shropshire Development XI coach Ian Roe was impressed with his side’s efforts.
He said: “Credit to our boys for how they applied themselves against a talented Lancashire team which included several players who have played second team cricket for Lancashire this year.
“Gary Yates, Lancashire’s Academy Director, was impressed with how our young players performed.
“Even though we lost both games, they were both very competitive matches and I have certainly been encouraged with how our young players have developed during the season.
“The aim now is for them to keep improving and to challenge for a place in Shropshire’s first team.”
Shropshire’s Development XI, captained by Bridgnorth’s left-arm spinner Sam Baugh, also played matches against Shrewsbury School, Northamptonshire’s under-19s and Cheshire’s Development XI during the 2018 season.
