Shropshire skipper Steve Leach insists his side are raring to go as they look forward to facing Berkshire, the team which completed a Unicorns Championship and Trophy double last year.
There’s a single point between the two sides at the top of the table after they both won their first two Western Division matches this season, with Leach impressed by his team’s efforts in beating Cheshire by 166 runs and then Herefordshire by 128 runs.
He knows Shropshire face a tough game at Finchampstead when the three-day clash gets under way on Sunday, but it’s a challenge he and his team mates are relishing.
Leach, pictured, said: “We’re going to Berkshire and it’s a match that I’m really excited for and I know everyone else is.
“We go there very confident as we’ve had a good start to the season across all the different formats. We’re unbeaten in eight Championship matches now.
“Berkshire have been the stand-out performers in Minor Counties cricket in recent years.
“I think it’s a good place for us to go and challenge ourselves. We know that if we manage to beat them that we will have beaten the strongest team, the favourites, in the division.
“We’re really motivated to go and try and do that, so hopefully we can produce a similar performance to what we’ve had in our first two matches against Cheshire and Herefordshire.”
