Tom Weston will make his first appearance of the season for Shropshire in the Unicorns Championship match with Cornwall which starts at St Austell on Sunday.

The former Bridgnorth all-rounder, who now plays his club cricket for Cuckfield in the Sussex Premier League, top scored for Shropshire’s Development XI, with 69 from 75 balls, in their last match against Staffordshire at Wrekin College.

Weston, who made his county debut in 2014, will replace unavailable Shrewsbury man Dillon Pennington in the only change to the side which beat Oxfordshire by eight wickets at Shifnal earlier this month.

Weston’s last Championship appearance came against Berkshire at Shifnal last July.

Shropshire are currently second in the Western Division table, 14 points behind leaders Berkshire at the halfway point of the season.

Hosts Cornwall are in sixth place, eight points behind Shropshire, after beating Wales by seven wickets in their last match at Truro.
