Following the wet weather that hit parts of Shropshire and led to the abandonment without a ball bowled of their match against Northants under-19s on Friday, Shropshire’s Academy side are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday.
They will be travelling to Crewe to face Cheshire CCC’s Development XI at Weston Cricket Club.
Shropshire make several changes for the game with some players being rested while others are unavailable owing to holidays and work commitments.
Academy coach Ian Roe, pictured, said: “We have made some changes to last week’s side as players are not available to play for several reasons – work commitments, holidays and some are rested as they have played quite a lot of club, school, university and cricket board representative games.
“Our policy is to look at as many talented players as possible during the playing season, but we understand and respect reasons for individuals not being able to commit.
“We also know how important the roles are that players have for their club sides at the weekend, so we hope players rested remain fresh.
“Dave Nock and myself speak to a number of experienced current and former players, along with coaches and club officials, whose judgement we trust.”
Shropshire welcome back Worfield’s exciting opening bowler Ben Parker and spinner Matt Rees, as well as give a first call up to Oswestry batsman Josh Darley.
Play will start against Cheshire on Wednesday at 11am in a 50 overs per side match.
Shropshire are taking 12 players: Matty Simmonds (captain), Josh Darley, Connor Davies, Sam Davies, Lewis Evans, Jack Furnival, Alfie Hollihead, James Kinder, Ben Lees, Ben Parker, Matt Rees, Joe Smallman.
